Are you looking to make a dramatic change to your smile? At Ever Care Dental, we offer cosmetic services that range from simple teeth whitening to full smile makeovers. One of the most effective ways to treat a flawed smile is with dental veneers. Veneers are one of the most comprehensive and dramatic cosmetic solutions available today.
What Are Veneers?
Dental veneers are small porcelain shells that fit over your natural tooth to correct aesthetic issues or to lengthen your teeth for functional purposes. Veneers are custom made for each individual patient with unique sizes, shapes, and colors depending on what will work best for you.
Veneers can be made for your individual teeth, but it is much more common to see six or eight anterior teeth all included into the treatment plan for uniformity and consistency in your smile.
Veneers can correct a variety of cosmetic issues you may have such as:
- Deeply stained teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Short teeth
- Worn and chipped teeth
- Oddly shaped teeth
- Gaps between your teeth
- Teeth that look mismatched
Who Is a Good Candidate for Veneers?
Not everyone is a good candidate for veneers. If you have an active periodontal (gum) infection, we will need to make sure your mouth is completely healthy prior to beginning treatment for veneers. Dr. Elaine Gonzales or Dr. Jennifer Yessa will do a full exam and discuss realistic outcomes you may expect.
Certain conditions, such as severe malocclusion (a poor bite) may make it impossible for veneers to be an option for you. An exam at Ever Care Dental and a discussion with Dr. Gonzales or Dr. Yessa about your aesthetic goals and treatment can determine if you are a good candidate for dental veneers.
How Does an Appointment for Veneers Work?
Getting veneers generally takes several appointments. After an exam with one of our dentists, and we will determine that you will be a good candidate for veneers, she will advise you and help you make a decision about what size, shape, and color of veneers will look most attractive and natural for your smile.
Once your new smile is planned, she will prep your teeth for veneers. That means a small amount of the surface of your teeth will be removed in order to make space for your veneers and to ensure an airtight bond. You will wear temporary veneers until your permanent ones are returned from our highly skilled dental lab.
When we receive your permanent veneers, we will make an appointment to bond them to your teeth and make any final adjustments necessary. You will also have a follow-up appointment to make sure that you are adjusting well to your new veneers and everything looks good.
With proper care and precautions, your veneers could last a lifetime. Dr. Elaine Gonzales or Dr. Jennifer Yessa will discuss appropriate aftercare, such as a nightguard, which may be necessary to protect your veneers.
